Peak time with a metal edge

Victor Ruiz's sets are instantly recognizable: high-impact, emotionally charged techno with the dramaturgy of rock and rave, designed for the big stage and the dark room. That signature has taken him to Tomorrowland, Awakenings, Time Warp, EDC Las Vegas, Lollapalooza, Boom, and Fusion, as well as clubs in Germany, the UK, Japan, the US, Brazil, and Australia. He doesn't chase the hit of the moment: he builds a journey, with cult edits—The Prodigy's Breathe, Depeche Mode's Everything Counts, Massive Attack's Teardrop—that remain hallmarks of his sets.

He grew up in São Paulo with his brother's heavy metal and his mother's Beatles records. At nine, he was gifted a bass guitar; the electronic turn came with Daft Punk's Around the World on MTV. He started DJing in 2006 by accepting a gig without knowing how to mix yet, studied production at Universidade Anhembi Morumbi, and, after a pioneering phase of Brazilian bass alongside Alex Stein, he established himself in peak time techno and melodic techno. Since 2012, he has been a constant presence on the international circuit; in 2018 he moved to Berlin and later settled in Lisbon, from where he continues to tour.

VOLTA, the label that is a turn

Nimbus, his 2019 debut on Drumcode, kicked off a streak on Adam Beyer's label—Freedom, Beirut, Bloom—and a discography that has also passed through Arcane, mau5trap, Armada, Insomniac, Global Underground, Noir Music, Suara, and Senso Sounds. He has collaborated with Alok, Boris Brejcha, Reinier Zonneveld, Mila Journée, Kaufmann, SIDEPIECE, and Perry Farrell, and has remixed deadmau5, Astrix, Stephan Bodzin, Binary Finary, Oliver Huntemann, and Liquid Soul.

In October 2022, he founded VOLTA in Lisbon: a platform for producers with a sound that is hard to categorize, with a commitment to donate 10% of release profits to causes chosen by the artists. The Pura Vida EP inaugurated the catalog and a launch party at ADE in Amsterdam. The name, which in Portuguese means turn or return, summarizes the project's philosophy: a change of direction and a way of giving back to the scene.

An album named after him

In August 2024, he released This Is Not An Album: eight long tracks, off-trend, designed against the logic of the quick hit. On July 10, 2026, VICTOR arrived, his first studio album: fourteen pieces that move away from dancefloor techno toward melodic electronica, house, breakbeat, ambient, and cinematic composition, featuring Perry Farrell, Echo Romeo, Luke Cusato, Enrico Minelli, Tao Andra, and Ram Dass. In 2025, 1001Tracklists included him in The Future of Dance. Today, with VOLTA among the best-selling techno labels and a schedule that continues to cross continents, Ruiz defends a techno that moves the body and the emotion, and which no longer fits into a single label.
