The anthem Gigolo couldn't contain

The Poney EP, released in 2001 on International Deejay Gigolo Records, sent La Rock 01 soaring across European dancefloors and ended up on compilations by Sven Väth and 2 Many DJ's. Behind it was a producer trained in Dijon, influenced by a Daft Punk concert at the club L'An-fer and years of analog electronics, classical trombone, and machines like the Korg MS-20. Before the alias that would make him world-famous, he had already released underground vinyls as Dima and Hustler Pornstar, and collaborated with Al Ferox. Michel Amato, The Hacker, opened the door for him to DJ Hell in Munich. The pseudonym, inspired by the Slavic name Vitali, fit with a hard, playful sound that went against the grain of filtered French Touch.

Citizen Records and the live act as architecture

In 2001 he founded Citizen Records, a label still active today that has hosted Lady B, Teenage Bad Girl, The Micronauts, and Arnaud Rebotini. OK Cowboy (2005), released with Different/PIAS and built entirely with electronic synthesis, was certified gold in France. The tour took him to Sónar, Transmusicales, Glastonbury, Big Day Out, Summer Sonic, and Fuji Rock. The live album V Live (2007), recorded at the Ancienne Belgique in Brussels, cemented his reputation for a physical show, far from the standard DJ set. In parallel, he remixed Daft Punk, Björk, Röyksopp, Giorgio Moroder, and Jean-Michel Jarre.

From Flashmob to cinema and Kompromat

Flashmob (2009) shifted towards disco—Poison Lips snuck into Dredd and Élite—and the V Mirror tour, with 1024 Architecture, turned the stage into a game of mirrors. Rave Age (2012), with artwork by Storm Thorgerson, pushed pop, rave, and EDM: more than 80 dates in two years, with a sold-out Zénith in Paris. In 2016 he opened Clivage Music and in 2017 he released Voyager; the ODC tour placed him in 2018 as the third most exported French artist for the Bureau Export. With Rebeka Warrior he forms Kompromat (album Traum und Existenz in 2019; Playing Praying in 2025). The diptych Dissidænce (2021-2022) coincided with his 20th anniversary at the Accor Arena. The soundtrack for Disco Boy won the 2024 Lumières Award and was nominated for a César. In 2025 he reissued OK Cowboy in an anniversary box set and maintains the live act as the axis of his scene.
