A hybrid live act with the pulse of a song

Between the emotion of a pop song and the tension of a club set, WhoMadeWho has turned the hybrid format into their natural territory. The Copenhagen trio, formed in 2003, unites the vocals and bass of Tomas Høffding, the guitar and jazz sensibility of Jeppe Kjellberg, and the drums and electronic production of Tomas Barfod. This combination has allowed them to move naturally between electronic pop, disco, indie rock, and melodic electronica without losing a recognizable identity: clean melodies, elastic basslines, organic percussion, and a vocal style that always maintains a touch of melancholy.

From the disco lab to the big stages

Their first twelve-inch records on Gomma anticipated a club language with a band structure, which crystallized in the 2005 album WhoMadeWho. Later, they expanded their palette in works like The Plot, Knee Deep, Brighter, Dreams, and Through The Walls, releasing music on labels such as Gomma, Kompakt, and Embassy of Music. In parallel, their profile within the electronic scene grew through remixes, EPs, and collaborations associated with circuits like Innervisions, Life & Death, and Get Physical, until they consolidated a sound increasingly oriented toward the dancefloor without abandoning the song component.

Abu Simbel as a turning point

The session for Cercle at the Abu Simbel temples, released in 2021, became one of the most recognizable images of their recent phase. From there, the group reinforced their role as a large-format electronic live act, with performances at reference festivals and spaces like Coachella, Sónar, Roskilde, Melt!, and Burning Man. Their presence in the booth functions as both a concert and a club set: live vocals, drums, synthesizers, sequences, and a very emotional reading of melodic and organic house.

The era of The Moment

With UUUU in 2022 and Kiss & Forget in 2024, WhoMadeWho entered a more expansive phase, supported by their own creative universe, The Moment, which functions as a label, festival, and curatorial platform. Songs and collaborations like Abu Simbel, Nefertari, Miracle, Love Will Save Me, Heartless, and Flying Away With You reinforce their dialogue with contemporary electronica, from melodic house to an indie sensibility of massive reach. In 2024, they were recognized at the DJ Awards in the organic house category and also as best live act at the Beatport Awards, confirming a unique position: a band that understands the dancefloor through composition, emotion, and stage presence.
