Last February 2026, the iconic Great Hall of Alexandra Palace in London was transformed into the epicenter of European electronic music. During the nights of February 6th and 7th, the latter added due to overwhelming public demand, the Bosnian-German producer and DJ Solomun delivered two of the most memorable performances of his recent career. Now, these historic sets have been immortalized in a new documentary feature film recently released via his official YouTube channel.
The convergence of synthesis, rave, and visual art
Far from the conventional static recordings that usually document dance music sessions, Solomun's audiovisual production opts for a purely immersive narrative. The documentary captures the final three hours of his performance, introducing the viewer to an atmosphere that fuses the raw aesthetic of 90s raves with contemporary technical sophistication. Through close-up shots within the crowd, wide shots of the majestic Great Hall, and aerial drone sequences, the film reflects how the night was experienced from the center of the dance floor, prioritizing the collective groove over the individual figure of the DJ.
The promoter Labyrinth Events was in charge of orchestrating this residency, where the space was redesigned to feel like a cross between an art installation and a warehouse party. Furthermore, the event stood out for the incorporation of live vocalists for the first time in Solomun's format, including appearances by artists such as Tarek, Antony Szmierek, and Inéz, who added an organic layer to the powerful techno and house rhythms.
