A mellow circus that sneaks into house

The Mellow Circus universe wasn't born as a festival slogan: it is how Brunello understands the club. From San Diego, he builds hypnotic, playful, and slightly sinister house, with grooves that lean on indie dance, breaks, and turns toward techno when the room demands it. The stage name emerged during the pandemic, over a bottle of Tuscan wine, and with it, he left behind the New Stereo project to start from scratch: without an inherited audience and with the obsession of sounding like no one else.

Percussion band rhythms and a move to Ohio

He grew up in Chevy Chase, in the Washington D.C. area, in a house where U2, the Rolling Stones, and Earth, Wind & Fire lived together. In high school, the drumline shaped his ear more than any DJ: a large part of the patterns he programs today come from those rehearsals. He became a college baseball pitcher at Bates College; he lost his passion for the sport in his freshman year, transferred to Miami University in Ohio, and there he discovered Ableton. He spent periods of voluntary isolation and decided to sacrifice everything to produce. San Diego was the place where that discipline found a visual identity and its own label.

From Mashed Potatoes to Essential New Tune

In 2023, he founded Mellow Circus Records. The first hit, Mashed Potatoes, already pointed to night-fair breakbeat. Then came tracks like The Clown's Corridor —with a run in Ibiza clubs—, Jester's Privilege, Ghost Dance, Science Fiction, or Illusions, and an aesthetic illustrated by the Greek artist Volk, far from generic house covers. In November 2025, Lost In The Mellow Circus was released on Nervous Records and Pete Tong chose it as Essential New Tune on BBC Radio 1. Dancing Astronaut included him among their artists to watch in 2026. As a producer, he has received support from Marco Carola, Skrillex, CamelPhat, Chris Stussy, Adam Ten, and Mita Gami, among others.

Space terrace, Woogie, and a circus-like 2026

One of his confirmation moments was playing twice on the Space Miami terrace. On New Year's Eve 2025, he shared the booth with KinAhau at Decadence Arizona. The 2026 calendar took him to EDC Mexico, CRSSD in his home city, two hours on the Woogie stage at Lightning in a Bottle, Electric Forest, HARD Summer, Shambhala, Solid Grooves at DC-10 (Ibiza), and an eleven-hour marathon Mellow Circus session at Club Space. In May, he debuted on Pete Tong's Hot Mix for BBC Radio 1 Dance. The project is no longer just a label: there are his own parties —such as the open-air event at The Ruins of the Knockdown Center in Queens with Emanuel Satie— and a clear idea: to build a world bigger than the discography.
