Origins and Early Years

Born as Adam Richard Wiles on January 17, 1984, in Dumfries, Scotland, Calvin Harris began his musical journey in his own bedroom. Attracted to electronic music during his teenage years, he started producing home demos in 1999. After saving money by working at a local supermarket and a fish processing plant, he moved temporarily to London to try and break into the music industry. Although his beginnings were extremely difficult and he had to return to his hometown after running out of funds, his unwavering persistence and the tracks he regularly uploaded to the Myspace platform managed to catch the attention of important talent scouts, eventually securing his first record deal.

Commercial Consolidation and 'I Created Disco '

Calvin Harris's definitive commercial takeoff occurred in 2007 with the release of his debut album, 'I Created Disco '. This first major work, which combined pure electro rhythms with marked 80s pop influences, contained absolute hits like 'Acceptable in the 80s ' and 'The Girls ', quickly positioning him on the UK sales charts. This overwhelming success was followed by his second album, 'Ready for the Weekend ' in 2009, where Harris not only produced the rhythms but also provided his own vocals on several tracks, achieving his first number one on the British charts and cementing his status as one of the most prominent emerging figures in dance music.

Global Success and the EDM Explosion

2012 marked a historic and unparalleled milestone in Calvin Harris's career with the release of the album '18 Months '. In this project, he decided to step away from the microphone to focus exclusively on production and collaborate with international superstars. The album broke all known records by managing to place nine of its singles directly in the British Top 10, surpassing Michael Jackson. Generational anthems like 'Feel So Close ', 'Summer ' and the colossal hit 'We Found Love ' with singer Rihanna, catapulted him to absolute global fame, making him the world's highest-paid DJ for many consecutive years and the greatest commercial exponent of the EDM phenomenon.

Musical Evolution and Love Regenerator

Demonstrating impressive artistic versatility, in 2017 he took an unexpected turn and released 'Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 ', an acclaimed project where he adopted a refreshing Nu-disco, funk, and organic R&B sound, collaborating with giants like Frank Ocean or Pharrell Williams. In 2020, feeling the need to reconnect with his true musical roots based on raw nineties house and techno, he gave birth to an ambitious side project under the alias Love Regenerator. With this alter ego, he has been releasing music directly focused on and embraced by the underground circuit, thus demonstrating his undeniable ability and talent to simultaneously dominate both massive stadium pop and darker, purist club sounds.
