Dax J's signature is recognized by a physical, dark, and high-tension techno, built for long closing sets and venues where the sound commands more than the spectacle. From London and based in Berlin, he has consolidated a central position within the international circuit thanks to a very specific mix of booth technique, non-obvious record selection, and impact-oriented production. His reputation has been formed in techno scene institutions, yet he retains an underground reading: fast, dense, precise sessions with an energy that connects British rawness with the European club pulse.

From London jungle to the pulse of Monnom Black

Before becoming associated with contemporary techno, his background passed through jungle, drum and bass, and British garage. He grew up following figures like Goldie, Andy C, and Bad Company, started DJing on pirate radio while still in school, and became a regular vinyl collector at Black Market Records. His first productions came from home tools, including a PlayStation, and his first vinyl appearances were linked to the jungle scene, with releases on Urban Takeover under the alias Dangerous and on his own initial label, Xplicit Sound. After studying sound engineering and discovering techno during a period of travel, he redirected his language toward a harsh, fast, and functional 4/4, without losing the rhythmic pressure of his past in drum and bass.

Long-distance records and extreme booths

As a producer and head of Monnom Black, he has developed a catalog closely linked to his identity. Shades Of Black brought his sound to the forefront in 2015 and reinforced the label's role within raw-cut techno. Later came Offending Public Morality, Utopian Surrealism, Soul Enforcer, and War Is Peace, Freedom Is Slavery, Ignorance Is Strength, works that expanded his palette without abandoning forcefulness. In parallel, his sets have been recognized for their duration and endurance, with ten-hour closing sets at clubs like Berghain and Bassiani, in addition to an Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 and performances at festivals and platforms such as NeoPop, Awakenings, Time Warp, Stone Techno, Boiler Room, and ARTE Concert. Currently, Dax J operates as a DJ, producer, and label boss at the meeting point between technical precision, British rave culture, and large-format European techno.
