The origins of MËSTIZA

Mëstiza is an acclaimed Spanish duo of DJs and music producers, formed in 2021 by Belah Sánchez, a native of Málaga, and Patricia (Pitty) Bernad, originally from Albacete. Both artists, after having forged successful solo careers within the electronic music industry in Europe for over a decade, decided to join their talents driven by a deep friendship and mutual respect. The project arose from a shared need to explore their cultural roots and to create a unique sonic identity that would pay homage to the folklore of their country. Their goal from the beginning was clear: to export the identity of flamenco culture to international dance floors, achieving a revolutionary, sophisticated, and elegant fusion.

The fusion of flamenco and electronic music

Mëstiza's sonic proposal stands out for the perfect and innovative synergy between the hard-hitting rhythms of electronic music, exploring genres such as Melodic Techno, Afro House, and Deep House, and the purest cadences of the Spanish tradition. Their immersive sets and productions go far beyond using pre-recorded audio; in their live act, the duo intertwines organic basslines and powerful club rhythms with the sound of acoustic guitars, castanets, handclaps, and traditional singing. In this way, they have managed to forge a musical style that connects the mysticism of the Iberian past with the inexhaustible energy of the future, giving their proposal an unmistakable artistic identity.

The SACRO universe and its aesthetic identity

To unleash their entire artistic imagery, the duo founded their own record label, Sacro Music, and created their acclaimed event brand, SACRO. These iconic parties have become an authentic immersive ritual that masterfully combines their energetic DJ sets with live performances by flamenco dancers and traditional musicians. The success of this concept has been overwhelming, leading them to sell out tickets in cities like Madrid, Dubai, Miami, and Tulum. In addition to music, Mëstiza is strongly committed to a very carefully curated visual narrative, where high fashion and female empowerment play a crucial role, reclaiming the figure of the female producer within the music industry.

International success and consolidation

In the month of December 2023, the duo marked a historic moment in their career with the brand-new release of their spectacular debut studio album, titled 'Quëreles'. This impressive conceptual record, which includes major collaborations with prominent artists in Spain such as Chambao, the singer Argentina, and the young figure Reyes Carrasco, managed to debut at number 1 in official vinyl sales in Spain during its first week of release.

Throughout their dazzling and meteoric trajectory, the immense global impact of Mëstiza has not stopped growing vertiginously, performing on the most prestigious continents and venues. They recently consolidated their status as undisputed benchmarks by making history and becoming the first female duo to secure a full-season residency at the legendary and prestigious club Hï Ibiza, rated as the best club in the world, definitively cementing their overwhelming position in the absolute elite of the global electronic music scene.
