Born in the Schöneberg district of Berlin in 1972, Ben Klock is one of the most influential figures in the recent history of electronic music. His first steps in music were marked by his training as a jazz pianist and his subsequent immersion in the effervescent German club culture during the nineties. In his early days, Klock was a resident DJ at classic Berlin clubs like Cookies, developing his own style. At the beginning of the 2000s, he experienced a phase of disillusionment with the prevailing wave of minimal and microhouse, which almost led him to temporarily retire from the DJ booth. The Berghain Phenomenon and Consolidation

The true turning point in Ben Klock's career came in 2005, when he was invited to become a resident DJ at the newly opened Berghain club, known worldwide as the undisputed temple of Techno. The total creative freedom and the possibility of performing marathon sets of extended duration revitalized his musical approach. His performances at Berghain not only forged his international reputation but also helped define the club's characteristic sound: a mix of industrial force, hypnotic rhythms, and a deep emotional connection with the dance floor. In addition to his mixing prowess, Klock established himself as a formidable producer thanks to his releases on Ostgut Ton, the record label associated with Berghain. His 2006 collaboration with Marcel Dettmann on the track Dawning, as well as his acclaimed anthem Subzero and his debut album One, marked a before and after in the modern definition of the genre.

Klockworks and the PHOTON Project

In 2006, seeking greater creative independence and a platform to give a voice to new talent, Ben Klock founded his own record label, Klockworks. Through this platform, he has boosted the careers of renowned artists such as DVS1, Etapp Kyle, and Stef Mendesidis, making the label synonymous with pure, raw, and high-quality techno. In his constant desire to innovate the live experience, Klock brought PHOTON to life in 2017, a series of touring events that fuse music, architecture, and spectacular lighting. This immersive audiovisual format has toured some of the most impressive venues in the world, such as Printworks in London or the Gashouder in Amsterdam, redefining the standards of large underground electronic music productions.

Global Impact and Current Legacy

Today, Ben Klock's impact transcends the walls of Berlin clubs. His masterful ability to build sound narratives was recognized when he recorded the prestigious Fabric 66 compilation and won the award for best Essential Mix from the BBC Radio 1 network in 2015. He is an undisputed regular on the lineups of the most important festivals on the world circuit, such as Time Warp, Awakenings, and Tomorrowland. Despite his enormous success and international projection, Ben Klock keeps the underground essence of his roots intact, delivering sets that oscillate between hypnotic techno, dancefloor groove, and timeless classics.
