Hit The Lights and the art of crossing tempos

In December 2021, Hit The Lights made it clear that Monty wasn't going to choose just one lane. The sixteen-track album, released on 1985 Music, traverses drum and bass, 140, halftime, and slower grooves with the same rigor in sound design. Collaborations with Visages, Alix Perez, Chimpo, Redeyes, Strategy, PAV4N, and Eva Mango turn the record into a portrait of the creative network surrounding him in Toulouse and the British circuit. Hardware, alongside Visages, Strategy, and PAV4N, ended up on the official FIFA 23 soundtrack and solidified itself as one of the most requested tracks in his sets.

Le Bikini as a school and 1985 Music as home

The Toulouse scene is not a backdrop: it is the workshop where he refined his ear. In 2012, a Dirty Dancing party at Le Bikini—organized by SKS and Vandal Records, featuring Break, Cyantific, and The Others—got him hooked on drum and bass. After two years on the dancefloor, he went from Traktor with a mouse to producing. His first contact with Alix Perez also happened at that venue. In 2017 came Hold Me Back, his first EP on 1985 Music, and since then, Perez's label has been his home: Hypnotize, Spatia, Hello, Blinded, F4DE, No Sunset For Soul, Grind Mode, or Classic Yeh / No Context map out a consistent discography, with excursions to Critical Music, Vision, Flexout Audio, Invisible, and Vandal. Before that anchor, he had already caught the attention of Kasra, Plasma, or Thys from Noisia, and racked up nominations for Best Newcomer at the Drum & Bass Arena Awards.

Sets that jump from 140 to rollers without losing the groove

As a DJ, Monty has made a name for himself by mixing 140, UK garage, halftime, and drum and bass with a progressive energy, more concerned with the journey than the label. That versatility has taken him to Let It Roll, Outlook Festival, Shambhala, and Beats For Love, as well as tours across Europe, North America, Australia, and New Zealand. Born in England and trained there in music technology, he returned to France to settle in Toulouse. Hip hop, dub, roots reggae, and techno fuel productions recognizable as part of the so-called Toulouse sound. Today, he continues to release on 1985, tours regularly, and maintains Monty Beats, his archive of packs, racks, and tutorials for producers.
