The groove that breathes off the grid

In the music of Priku, the rhythm rarely falls exactly where expected. Elastic basslines, micro-percussion, dub echoes, and hypnotic vocal fragments shift with a slight tilt, creating a continuity designed for long sets. That oblique pulse, closely linked to the Bucharest minimalist school, has given him a recognizable signature both on vinyl and in the booth. Born in Bucharest in 1983, Adrian Niculae started DJing in 2004 and in 2007 joined Sunrise, a decisive platform for his projection within the Romanian scene.

Sunwaves as a point of expansion

His appearances at Sunwaves consolidated a lasting relationship with the festival and preceded his international leap: in 2008 he performed at Underground Ibiza and, a year later, passed through Tenax in Florence, Fiesta Privada in Rome, Kazantip in Ukraine, and Silo in Belgium. At the same time, his studio work began to circulate on labels such as Sinusoid, All Inn Black, and [a:rpia:r]. His name appeared on the compilations Cocoon Green & Blue 2011 and Cocoon Heroes, before releasing Bobohalma EP in 2012, a reference that cemented his place in the vocabulary of Romanian minimalist house.

Motif and Atipic, two spaces of his own

In 2013 he created Motif and released Acoustic EP under his real name, an identity that also appeared on fabric 72. That opening led to Atipic, started in 2016 as a label, party series, and live format. Under that alias, he develops his more introspective and experimental side without breaking the central thread of his work: austere structures, microscopic detail, enveloping basslines, and slowly evolving rhythmic tension. His catalog has also passed through Eastenderz, Pressure Traxx, RORA, Savor Music, Berg Audio, and Gettraum, with collaborations alongside Dinu, Traumer, Jorge Savoretti, Arapu, and Floog.

Club precision, international reach

The booth is the place where that architecture acquires scale. Priku has performed at Robert Johnson, Amnesia, Tenax, Concrete, DC-10, and Club Guesthouse, in addition to maintaining a continuous presence in European and Ibiza circuits. Among his recent works are Distopic EP alongside Dinu, released on vinyl by Gettraum in 2024, and the DJ mix shared with Arapu at UNTOLD 2025. In 2026 he continues to be present on the lineups of Sunwaves, Circoloco, Music On, and Eastenderz. His current position is sustained less by spectacle than by consistency: patient selection, precise mixing, and an understanding of the groove capable of keeping the dance floor moving for hours.
