The Defected energy brought to the forefront

The Defected dancefloor and the pulse of Ibiza have marked the emotional map of Sam Divine, a British selector whose career has been built from the booth, street work, and a deep relationship with house music. Associated for years with Defected Records, she went from distributing music and teaming up in the Ibiza scene to becoming one of its most visible figures, hosting Defected Radio and holding prominent positions in the brand's residencies. Her return to Ushuaïa Ibiza in 2024 as a centerpiece of Defected's first season at the club reinforced an already consolidated image: that of a DJ capable of holding large stages without losing the instinct for warm-up, vocal house, and club groove.

Vinyl, shed, and booth craft

Her story starts far from the prefabricated narrative of stardom. Raised in the environment of Weston-super-Mare, she learned to mix in her mother's shed and trained her ear in record stores like Spin Central, Chemical Records, and Oatmeal Records. Before establishing herself as a house reference, her imagination was crossed by hard house, breaks, and drum and bass; the turn came when she discovered the emotional potential of soulful house, vocals, and percussion. That change defined a way of DJing based on reading the room, building tension with patience, and connecting with very different audiences, from dark clubs to international festivals.

Own labels, global radio, and the 555 stage

As a producer and label head, Sam Divine has used her platform to open space for new talent. In 2015 she launched DVINE Sounds, a label linked to contemporary house and the search for emerging artists, with her own releases and collaborations such as Face In The Crowd, Take My Hand, Saved By The Record, or Too Hot. She has also signed music and remixes within the Defected, DFTD, and other relevant labels, maintaining an identity centered on vocal house, groove, and positive energy.

In 2024 she was on the cover of DJ Mag Ibiza and won the Best House DJ award at the Ibiza DJ Awards. Starting in 2026, she opened another chapter with 555, a label and event concept oriented towards long sessions, club culture, and direct connection with the audience. The series also led her to champion independent venues and develop her own residency at Cova Santa, Ibiza. In this stage, marked by greater attention to well-being and sobriety, Sam Divine appears as an artist who does not live off the nostalgia of Defected, but rather transforms two decades of craft into an increasingly personal identity.
