Chlär

Switzerland, synthesis and early rave culture

Chlär is the artistic project of Charles Accarisi, a Swiss DJ, producer, and mastering engineer linked to high-groove contemporary techno. Raised in a family very close to music, he started playing guitar before becoming interested in production. At 13 years old, he discovered Audiotool and began experimenting with synthesis, drum machines, and programming. His first experience at an illegal rave in Switzerland, around the age of 16 or 17, shifted his focus toward club electronics. He later moved his professional development to Berlin, where his sound training and contact with the European scene expanded his language.

Instinct as the dancefloor's engine

His music is recognized for a physical, precise, and deeply rhythmic techno, built on complex grooves, repetitive patterns, organic percussion, and a very direct relationship with the body. Chlär has defined an aesthetic that connects primitivism and innovation, with tracks that usually move between hardgroove, tribal techno, hypnotic pressure, and a functional use of bass. In the booth, he works with technical mixes, multiple layers, and his own production loops, seeking to ensure that every transition maintains a living tension and an immediate reading of the dancefloor.

From Bipolar Disorder to Primal Instinct

In 2017, he co-founded Bipolar Disorder Rec. together with The Chronics, a Geneva-based label that promoted techno music and events with local and international artists. In 2018, he entered the circuit visibly with material published in that environment, and later developed a catalog that includes releases on RAW, Lobster Theremin, VOLTAGE, Mutual Rytm, Self Reflektion, NIX, Mote-Evolver, and Primal Instinct. He has also worked as a mastering engineer for labels such as Taapion, RAW, and Ritmo Fatale. Together with Alarico, he created Funk Assault, a raw and classic techno duo that debuted in 2022 and released music on Primal Instinct. In 2023, he launched Primal Instinct with Alarico and The Chronics, a platform focused on advanced rhythmic patterns, organic sound design, and a conceptual idea of techno.

A key figure in current groove techno

His recent period has consolidated a very recognizable identity. The Architects of Shadows, released in 2024 by Primal Instinct, developed a dark imagery around social polarization and collective manipulation. In 2025, he debuted on Mote-Evolver, Luke Slater's label, with Topography EP, and opened a new phase of the label with Breakthrough. His international presence includes sets and live performances at Boiler Room x Glitch Festival, 909 Festival, RSO.BERLIN, HÖR, Intercell, Soenda, Time Warp, Awakenings, Stone Techno Festival, and other reference spaces. Represented by Reprise Talent Agency, Chlär occupies a central position in the new wave of groove techno, combining technique, sound research, and an intensely physical vision of the club.
